merry CHRISTmas

We had a WHITE Christmas this year for SURE! So much snow.....It looked like a blizzard all day yesterday, which made for an extra beautiful Christmas Day! It was Something crazy like 14 inches at Will Rodgers Airport! We just considered it an extra gift for Christmas from above! Jesus being our best gift ever! The blizzard snow also gave us another gift, being stuck at home, it was so nice just to lounge around all day with my precious husband and doggies. A wonderful, SLOW, relaxed way to spend Christmas.
This is us Christmas morning, well actually Christmas NOON! We are soaking up not having kids that want to wake up at the crack of dawn to rush to the tree to open presents. We slept in, and then had some breakfast before opening gifts, it was a relaxed morning for sure!
We had our Christmas time with Adam's family on Sunday night. We all got together today for Christmas with the entire family, but decided to do our gifts with just the immediate family on Sunday night, it was a wonderful time spent with precious people we love, especially this handsome guy, PaPa Buddy. Sure wish he would move here near us, we love to see him!!!

Rhett was ready to open gifts!! He is super busy right now, and so much fun to be with. We all wore our PJ's, and I'm pretty sure his were the cutest!

So Merry Christmas to all!
Love, The Toler's

"The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the ONE and ONLY who came from the Father full of grace and truth."

Homemade Christmas Crayons

This year, we are having Christmas on a diet :) We didn't put up a tree (hopeful to be moving) and we are keeping gift giving simple. We have lots of nieces and nephews, so I thought I would make crayons and get cute Christmas coloring books for them. Here is how I made them.
I bought a pack of crayons at Hobby Lobby, cut the paper off of them and placed the pieces into a cookie sheet. It took about 3 crayons to make one Christmas crayon.

Here is my cookie sheet before I put them in the oven. I preheated the oven to 250, and I left the crayons in the heat for 5-7 minutes. If you leave them in longer the wax starts to burn and the color separates itself out.

Once I took the cookie sheet out I let it completly cool, and thus the crayons harden. This takes 20-30 minutes. Then I flipped the crayons out of the molds and aren't they cute??? So much fun, I hope the kiddos love them!

Wildflowers

For the last two weeks, I cannot get away from this.......it's almost as if I'm reminded of it daily as we are headed into Christmas, gifts seem so silly in comparison. Especially when compared to Treasure in Heaven. Heaven is where I want all my treasure to be...and I love that because of that it is also where my heart longs to be. I want to live eyes WIDE open, to be cared for while being careless, I want to be aware of what I have received- not what I will receive, and every time I look in the mirror...I want to see WILDFLOWERS!

Matthew 6:19-34 The Message
A Life of God-Worship

19-21"Don't hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths and corroded by rust or—worse!—stolen by burglars. Stockpile treasure in heaven, where it's safe from moth and rust and burglars. It's obvious, isn't it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.
22-23"Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light. If you live squinty-eyed in greed and distrust, your body is a dank cellar. If you pull the blinds on your windows, what a dark life you will have!

24"You can't worship two gods at once. Loving one god, you'll end up hating the other. Adoration of one feeds contempt for the other. You can't worship God and Money both.

25-26"If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don't fuss about what's on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds.

27-29"Has anyone by fussing in front of the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? All this time and money wasted on fashion—do you think it makes that much difference? Instead of looking at the fashions, walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them.

30-33"If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don't you think he'll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I'm trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God's giving. People who don't know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.

34"Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.
